Common Insurance and Billing Questions

Who is TIPS? What does TIPS do?

We are a pediatric hospitalist group consisting of independent contractors.  We are not a pediatrician's office or employed by the hospital. We accept newborn and general pediatric referrals from Pediatricians, Family Practitioners, Pediatric Sub-Specialists, and Surgeons who practice in San Antonio and surrounding communities.

Telephone consultation services are available around the clock for physicians wishing to admit patients to hospitals.

Why did I receive a bill from TIPS after my child's hospital stay?

Prior to your child's hospital visit, your primary care physician (Pediatrician) or specialist referred your child to TIPS by either calling the Answering Service to speak with the physician on call or they had already partnered with TIPS to provide services to their patients during their hospital stay.

Is TIPS in-network with my insurance?

We are in network with most major insurance companies including Medicaid and Oscar.

What happens if TIPS is out-of-network with our insurance?

We have an out-of-network payment policy which often matches the payments from our inpatient payors.

How can I pay my bill?

We accept credit/debit cards and checks via mail or by phone. We are currently working on an online payment option.
